Pink book, pink wine...

Posted on 22 Aug 2009

I'm a bit over-excited. I've just been in WHSmith and there it was, in all it's pink glory - The Stepmothers' Support Group, number 27 in the hardback chart. Yes, I was the cringy person taking photos on her mobile phone.

It's been a crazy week all round. On Monday, there was the Daily Mail piece, Who'd Be A Stepmum? Well, er me, actually! (see previous post). Tuesday was the SSG publication dinner with my gorgeous editor Lynne, long-suffering agent Jonny, even-longer suffering partner Jon, and those lovely people from Harpercollins. On wednesday evening, my very own support group treated me to pink wine in St James' Park in honour of the SSG's publication. Then, on Thursday, it was up early to do a whistle-stop tour of the country courtesy of the BBC. I spoke to 15 different radio stations in two and a half hours, which was amazing.

Also on thursday, the brilliant book blog Novelicious posted an interview with me. If you haven't seen it, follow this link.

Next week, there's more to come. Look out for the piece I've written for The Times about going from being a part-time stepmother to a full-time one, it will probably be in T2 on Thursday or Friday. Also, I'm doing interviews with the Guardian and the New Zealand Herald on Sunday. Plus the Australian Sun Herald has bought the 'Who'd Be A Stepmum?' feature (SSG is out in Australia and New Zealand at the start of September).

And don't forget Charlie Crocker's Bookclub on BBC Radio Solent on Monday 24th when I'll be talking live to Charlie and her listener reviewer (bit nervous to be honest!).

P.S. sorry about quality of photography. Me + mobile phone = out of focus
